So, as we reach May 2014, the first ever five nations tournament draws ever closer. With 8 teams now confirmed as taking part, the line up is as follows : Czech Republic, England A, England B, France A, France B, Germany, Spain and a mixed international team. A round robin tournament format has been determined and kick off will be at 1.30pm, with the tournament followed by drink, food, bowling and Germany v Ghana!
May 2014 also saw the setting of a new record at HWGE with a new age gap set for participants on a Friday night! The new record of a 63 year age gap between players was set with Will Jenkins (12) and Duke Maskell (75 – a very young looking 75!) on the same team. Despite the age gap, the lads played a cracking game and were convincing winners, showing age is only a number!
Finally for this month, a big welcome back to Duke who has been out injured for almost a year, he returned at the start of May and doesnt appear to have missed a beat! He will surely be a valuable asset in the upcoming tournament as a former winner of player of the tournament in 2012.
