Hot off the press………. The English squad has now been named for the first ever Five Nations Tournament to be held on 21st June 2014. Some big names miss out and there are international debuts for several players…..Here’s the squad :
John Wells – Englands number 4 goalkeeper, narrowly missed out on Brazil
Iain Veitch – Box to box midfielder who is strong in the tackle
Alistair Jenkins – Energetic midfielder with an eye for goal, international debut
Adrian Kevan – Vastly experienced defender, rock solid.
David Thompson – Another defender with great experience, known for the odd trick.
Duke Maskell – Reading of the game second to none, recently returned from injury
Paul Wyatt – Combative midfielder who chips in with some spectacular goals
Chris Baty – Tricky and creative midfielder, International debut.
Richard Walker – Emile Heskey type player, nightmare for defences.
Glen Graham – Great goalkeeper with an even better hat.
Stan – Brazilian like in style, only has one name he’s so good!
Ian McDonald – Runs all day, scores the odd goal too
Ron Caley – Can play a number of positions, known for his big tackle.
Trevor Hemmings – Good midfielder, known to strike from distance. International debut.
Paul Harrison – Reliable defender, known by some as the white Cafu
Julian Germain – All action midfielder who scores some spectacular goals at times.
Jamie Kearney – Silky skilled, has a great engine, chips in with the odd goal.
Volker Straub – Strong continental player, very hard to get past.
Vincent Straub – Young and very skilful, will provide an outlet at all times.
Jum Harvey – Wicked left foot and great hold up play.
Geoff Platt – Competitive midfielder who scores his fair share of goals.
Big names to miss out include Andrew Caley, Mark Warland, Barrie Hensby and Ralph Fawcett who miss out due to various other commitments and injuries.
